2008年にPaul RodriguezとHeath Brinkley, Andy Netkin, Jay Partow, and Jubal Jones,などがファウンダーとしてPRIMITIVEを立ち上げる。当初は感度の高いスケートボードとアパレルショップとして、カリフォルニアはエンシノに店舗を構えていた。
PLAN Bに所属していたPaulは、PLAN Bチームを抜けた後500枚限定の自身のシグネイチャーゴールドフォイルデッキを発表した。
反響は凄まじく、彼はスケートボードカンパニーを立ち上げることを決意する。
2014年4月、PRIMITIVE SKATEBOARDINGとして新たなカンパニーとして出発。
現在チームは拡大し、Paul Rodriguez, Bastien Salabanzi ,Carlos Ribeiro, Nick Tucker, Devine Calloway, Brian Peacock, Diego Najera, Trent McClung, Franky Villani, Robert Neal, Wade Desarmo という素晴らしいメンツを抱えている。
